It automatically post the tweet and the link to the video on Twitter for you. It also gives you an “embed” code for the video. Pretty cool!!

Government to use cloud computing / social apps

Apps.gov – cool site to visit – new government website administered by the US General Services Administration (gsa.gov)

Apps.gov is a new website that will help government agencies move their IT applications to the Cloud.  Federal Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra unveiled the initiative today at a a press event at NASA’s Ames Research Center. 

The site uses technologies from Google and other big Cloud vendors, but the Government isn’t going to just upload all of their data to Google.

Google Friend Connect / Twitter

 Google Friend Connect lets you grow traffic by easily adding social features to your website. This means means more people engaging more deeply with your website — and with each other. Google included Twitter in their Friend Connect program which means folks can stay connected with their Twitter network on web sites that have activated the service. This particular integration did not require effort on our part so it was a quick win for folks who use Twitter and want to connect on participating web sites.

Twhirl – post to Twitter and others

twhirl is a desktop client for the Twitter microblogging service. Most of the features available on the Twitter website are accessible through twhirl, too. Plus, a lot of usability enhancements have been added. It is a social software desktop client, based on the Adobe AIR platform. Some of the features are:

  • connects to multiple Twitter, identi.ca, Friendfeed and seesmic accounts
  • shorten long URLs (using snurl, twurl or is.gd)
  • cross-post twitter updates to Pownce and Jaiku
  • post images to TwitPic
  • search tweets using Twitter Search and TweetScan
